God said, “I command lights to appear in the sky and to separate day from night and to show the time for seasons, special days, and years.I command them to shine on the earth.” And that’s what happened. God made two powerful lights, the brighter one to rule the day and the other to rule the night. They also made the stars. Then God put these lights in the sky to shine on the earth,to rule day and night, and to separate light from darkness. God looked at what they had done, and it was good. Evening came and then morning—that was the fourth day.
Take some time to sit in awe of the beauty, the vastness and the complexity of the universe.
Look and wonder at how big the universe could be.
Look and wonder at all the individual stars and planets that make up the universe.
Look and wonder about just one star or planet you see.
When we look at taking care of the earth as a whole it can seem so big and overwhelming. There are so many things we can do and so many places and situations that need support. It is impossible to do it all, and it can feel impossible to decide on what to do.
Like our looking and wondering at the universe, sometimes we need to just choose one thing to focus on.
On the whiteboard at the entrance of the room write one thing you are already doing to care for the world and one thing you want to try to do.
Some of our stations can help give you ideas or read what others have written for inspiration.
